Gold, God or Glory free essay sample
Youââ¬â¢ve just escaped jail in the wake of completing three years for participating in consuming a blasphemer. Youââ¬â¢re not wedded, you have no children and you donââ¬â¢t have an excessive amount of continuing for you at the present time. The moment you get out, youââ¬â¢re closest companion is in that spot hanging tight for you. Heââ¬â¢s got the letââ¬â¢s accomplish something crazy face youââ¬â¢ve developed to abhor. You donââ¬â¢t recognize what heââ¬â¢s going to ask you however you know itââ¬â¢s insane. He says, ââ¬Å"Want to traverse the ocean with me? â⬠Through verbal, heââ¬â¢s been asked by a man, who passes by Christopher Columbus, to go with him and eighty other men on a boat over the Atlantic. Itââ¬â¢s insane, itââ¬â¢s foolish however will you go? For what reason would an individual living in Spain choose to get together and leave all that he was use to in look for new grounds? Did these men long to traverse the sea confronting and obscure passing for just strict reasons? Or then again was it in light of the fact that these men were happy to chance all, start a fresh start and take the risk at increasing enormous riches and magnificence? There is no uncertainty that for most men, gold was the fundamental wellspring of inspiration for pioneers, followed intently by acclaim and in conclusion God. Particularly evident in Aguirre, or the Wrath of God, the Spaniardââ¬â¢s gambling traverse the Atlantic did so on the grounds that they needed to get a definitive prize, gold and loads of it. The legend of the wealth isn't a fantasy at everything except rather can be introduced as actuality. The longing to go looking for wealth goes back to before Spainââ¬â¢s strength as a country during time when the realms of Castile and Aragon were as yet isolated. Portugalââ¬â¢s perfect area close to the Atlantic Ocean made it perfect for the nation to go here and there the expense of Africa. Therefore, the Portuguese country became enormously well off because of its simple ocean access along the coast permitting the exchange of items and slaves. ââ¬Å"Arguably, the journey for direct access to West African slaves drove straightforwardly to the Iberian disclosure of the Americas. â⬠The abrupt development of Portuguese pulled in numerous different guides, mariners and slave brokers, Christopher Columbus to be incorporated. Christopher Columbus accepted that one could cruise West over the Atlantic and hit Asia. The Portuguese didn't trust him and in doing as such, carried him to look for any other individual that would gracefully him on his excursion. He looked somewhere else and unearthed the help of the Spanish Crown through Queen Isabella. Columbus set off for Asia in 1492 and accidentally, hit an island in the Caribbean. It very well may be contended that the Spanish victory of the new grounds was not for financial addition but instead for strict purposes. Bartolome De Las Casas in his own letter, a Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies (1542), he expresses that ââ¬Å"the Americas were found in 1492, and the principal Christian settlements set up by the Spanish the next year. The Spanish framing a Christian settlement in such a brief timeframe gives proof that the Spanish put religion high on their need. He goes on later to state that ââ¬Å"these would be the most honored individuals on earth if just they were allowed to change over to Christianity. â⬠To whole, the letters talk about the severity of the Spaniards against the locals which has brought about the relinquishment of numerous islands once occupied by locals. Bartolome De Las Casas, in his own record of the New World, doesn't once discuss the coloniesââ¬â¢ financial prosperity or quest for gold. In any case, does this imply strict triumph was a higher priority than the recently settle Spaniardââ¬â¢s want to discover gold? It doesn't. Keep in mind, De Las Casas was a Dominican minister that claimed captives of his own. So how is it workable for the Spanish clerics to spare the indigenous individuals on the off chance that they couldnââ¬â¢t even spare their own from divine discipline? In Christopher Columbusââ¬â¢s letter to the Spanish crown in 1494, he states nine of his thirteen focuses to be about the transportation and the exchange of gold. Remember that two years have just gone since his appearance to the new world. In this letter, Columbus tends to issues managing gold, setting with a lesser significance on transformation, otherworldly success, and religion as a rule. Columbus just discusses the transformation of Indians in a solitary point which states ââ¬Å"That there will be a congregation, and ward clerics or monks to direct the ceremonies, to perform divine love, and for the change of the Indians. â⬠If Columbus and the Spaniards were progressively intrigued by the salvation of the indigenous individuals as opposed to for gold, it would just bode well that there would be a bigger number of focuses about the change of locals than gold. It would likewise bode well for him to broadly expound on the procedure of change just as the satisfactory ramifications for locals reluctant to change over. Columbus doesn't really expound than basically expressing that a congregation, clerics and the transformation of Indians be nearness. No place does it state number of individuals should have been changed over, or some other amount of the sort. Columbusââ¬â¢s letter makes it amazingly hard to accept the Spaniardââ¬â¢s number one thought process was change. Yet rather, the letter makes it very evident that the Spaniardââ¬â¢s just as Columbusââ¬â¢ inspiration for investigation was increasingly centered around gold, the hunt, transportation and the case to any gold found in the New world. Quick forward a couple of decades to 1560, the Spaniards have built up their states and now are on the quest for the brilliant city of El Dorado. In the film, Aguirre or the Wrath of God, the executive, Werner Herzog, makes it understood to the watcher that the conquistadors are looking for wealth and wealth alone. There are numerous scenes where the evangelist, Gaspar de Carvajal, and the slaves are together yet never does the film show the missionaryââ¬â¢s want to change over them into Christians. In one specific scene as the Spaniards ride on a pontoon down the waterway, they discover two locals in a close by kayak. Aguirre and his men, catch both of the locals which are then introduced to the remainder of the team. The Spaniards and, endless supply of promptly ask where he had gotten the gold. Herzog gives specific consideration to-detail in the missionaryââ¬â¢s articulation when he sees the local manââ¬â¢s brilliant jewelry. As opposed to the inviting and heavenly picture, one may figure the preacher may have upon first-contact, the teacher rather transforms into a horrible and covetousness filled man. The watcher can see the craving for riches covered all up the missionaryââ¬â¢s face and simply after he discovers which course the gold is in does he choose to change over the locals. The request where the Spanish teacher approached his obligations unmistakably shows to the watcher that in his psyche, he had his material wants first and change of the local second. This specific scene conflicts with the conviction that the Spaniards were intrigued more with regards to salvation than discovering wealth. Or maybe it gives away from for the thought processes of the Spaniards on their journey to discover El Dorado and at last, their longing for gold. Not exclusively does Aguirre or the Wrath of God propose a slight want for change of locals, it likewise recommends the Spanish Conquistadores want for riches and brilliance. This can be supported up towards the finish of the film, Aguirre more than all else, needs the acclaim and force that accompanies acquiring new terrains. He twice alludes back to Cortez, the Spanish conquistador that ignored the Spanish crown and in doing so found Mexico, as a method of revitalizing his men. In his psyche, he has the fixation on the dream of the city of El Dorado in any event, when his men begin to lose confidence he pushes on and subsequently, murders them all. The film closes with Aguirre on the pontoon, everybody around him has ceased to exist from a fever or starvation, however that being said he despite everything keeps scanning until his passing for the dream of distinction and fortune. Aguirreââ¬â¢s final words, ââ¬Å"I, the Wrath of God, will wed my own little girl and with her I will found the most perfect tradition the world has ever observed. Together, we will run this whole landmass. We will persevere. I am the Wrath of God! â⬠Herzog legitimately, depicts the Spanish in a verifiably precise light. He sets them up as riches and notoriety hungry men spurred exclusively on their insatiable want for influence and fortune. Albeit numerous Spaniardââ¬â¢s chose to travel abroad for a ââ¬Å"Spiritual Conquestâ⬠, there is no uncertainty the Spaniardââ¬â¢s uninhibitedly decided to glance demise in the face for the likely more noteworthy increase of riches and wonder. It just doesnââ¬â¢t bode well for an individual to get together, and hazard all that they had going for them in Spain for the sole motivation behind strict change. Except if, an individual is an evangelist, there is no other explanation for looking and scanning for a person(s) to coercively change over. Furthermore, assuming regardless of whether you happened to be a minister, that still doesnââ¬â¢t mean gold, and the quality of huge wealth had no impact on you. Cash is best. What's more, it is legitimately lord, since it keeps on making life as we know it possible.

Attachment theory Essay
Connection is a significant factor in a childs life. It causes them to feel safe and secure.à ââ¬ËThe infantââ¬â¢s inclination to look for the closeness to specific individuals and to have a sense of safety in their presence.ââ¬â¢ (Erikson 1976)à I believe that when Erikson offered this expression, what he was really saying was that a connection is the point at which a kid is increasingly agreeable in a setting in the event that they are with the individuals they are nearest to and the individuals that they like to be with and look for consideration of these individuals more than others. ââ¬ËAttachment resembles a bit of imperceptible string that ties people in a manner that permits a sound developmentââ¬â¢ (brain science for AS level).à This articulation as I would see it expresses that a connection which shapes a bond between the individuals included is significant for acceptable improvement for the child.à What occurs if there isnââ¬â¢t a bond or a connection in the childââ¬â¢s life? I am going to investigate three unique analysts hypotheses on connection and see what their sentiments regarding the matter are. The principal therapist I am investigating is Bowlby. Bowlby had exceptionally solid suppositions on connection and the drawn out influences an absence of a bond or connection can have on a childââ¬â¢s life. Bowlby accepted that a kid should frame one and only one in number connection which ought to be with the mother of the youngster. This is known as monotrophy. The dad in Bowlbyââ¬â¢s eyes was there for the creation of the infant just and would show no info or significance in the childââ¬â¢s childhood. Bowlby reached the resolution that youngsters who neglected to frame this bond with their mom in the initial three years of the childââ¬â¢s life would have issues in later life holding with individuals and confiding in individuals. He additionally portrayed a kid with an absence of attaching to be an affectionless insane person, which he depicted to be somebody who shows absence of blame when accomplished something incorrectly experiences issues demonstrating feeling to things around them or somebody with conduct issues. Another effect of not having a connection in this basic period as it was likewise known in Bowlbyââ¬â¢s eyes was advancement hindrance which implied the youngster may grow up with learning challenges or more slow intelligent abilities. The following clinician I will talk about is Mary Ainsworth. Ainsworth explored holding and separated it into various areas. She separated it to three unique sorts of connection. These were secure connections, restless â⬠avoidant connections and on edge â⬠safe attachments.à Secure connections were portrayed as the most grounded of the three. This is the place the kids realize they are adored and thought about and they have a sense of safety with the individual they have attached to. At the point when they are left without their connection figure just because they will show loads of misery and upset. Anyway after time they will become accustomed to being left and they won't be as upset as time goââ¬â¢s on. On edge â⬠avoidant connection isn't as solid as the safe connection and the bond it more vulnerable. These kids appear to be progressively free and can oversee little undertakings all alone. This might be because of an adjustment in the connection figures disposition or conduct towards the youngster which might be brought about by death or detachment from an accomplice. This can likewise be brought about by partition from kid and connection figure because of ailment or division during childbirth. This connection is normally more fragile due to the absence of full trust from either party.à Anxious â⬠safe connection is like restless â⬠avoidant connection yet the kid frequently is more tenacious and looks for more thoughtfulness regarding individuals just as the connection figure however when individuals attempts to comfort them they will regularly not acknowledge the solace. The last clinicians I am going to take a gander at are Shaffer and Emerson. Shaffer and Emersonââ¬â¢s hypothesis is the one Ainsworth used to finish up her examinations. They took a gander at youngsters with numerous connections which negates Bowlbyââ¬â¢s hypothesis which said just a single solid connection can be made. They separated their discoveries in to four segments. These segments are Asocial stage which is offspring of 0-2, the aimless stage, offspring of 2-7 months, explicit stage which is offspring of 7 months in addition to and afterward at long last various connection. Asocial stage is portrayed to be the place the kids matured 0-2 months will react to human faces yet won't show any primary trouble towards whom it is they are with. This implies on the off chance that you set a 0-multi month infant in a day care setting then they won't generally kick a lot of an object when their mom leaves them they will for the most part be cheerful and content as long as they are getting some consideration. On my situation while I was working in the 0-2 room the most youthful youngster there at the time was just a month and a half old she would come to nursery with no problem consistently after her rest she would here and there cry a tad until she got some consideration. She was cheerful when her mum came to get her yet she didnââ¬â¢t sob for her when she wasnââ¬â¢t there. Where as probably the most established youngster who was almost year and a half used to sob for her mum about throughout the day, she possibly appeared to be upbeat when she was eating. The aimless stage is for kids from multi month as of recently. These youngsters are progressively mindful of what's going on and they know who they like to invest energy with as a rule much of the time it is the principle parental figure, however they will at present be alright and not very stressed around outsiders and obscure faces.à The explicit stage is the place one in number connection is clear and the kid turns out to be tired and on edge around obscure individuals. This is normally why when a kid more than 7 months is brought into a youngster care setting, they require a long time to settle and sob for their carer. Various connections are the place the kid is near or has a connection with more than one individual. This is regularly when they invest a great deal of energy with these individuals just as their parental figures. These individuals can incorporate great guardians, more distant family, neighbors and practically individuals who they invest a ton of energy with and they have a sense of security around.à As a portion of the scholars referenced above said they would be trouble when a kid was left or was isolated from their connection figure its is significant that kids become acclimated to a setting before being brought and taken off alone. In some youngster care setting they hold visits for the kids where they can accompany their connection figure and see the setting and play with different kids to perceive what it resembles and to become more acquainted with the consideration laborers faces first. In my arrangement they do this over a time of 6 visits(longer if youngster is agitated) to keep away from a lot of pressure and upset for the new kids coming to nursery each time a visit happens the connection figure will remain somewhat not exactly the time before leaving the kid with different kids and parental figures. Thusly they feel that the youngster becomes accustomed to not having their mom there constantly and furthermore becomes acquainted with the others in the setting and environment.à Another way the kids help settle in the nurseries or kid care setting is they are permitted to carry with them a transitional article with them to comfort them when they get agitated. One youngster in my arrangement had a pink pad which she has constantly when she is vexed. At the point when she settles down she regularly puts it down a leaves it on the floor, now the consideration laborer gets it attentively and places it in her crate. They do this since they feel on the off chance that she is getting along and happily, at that point she seeââ¬â¢s the pad she will get it and convey it round again where as though it is off the beaten path the youngster will ideally play for a more drawn out measure of time. The youngster gets it back on the off chance that she requests it or in the event that she gets bothered on upset in any case. In my arrangement to maintain a strategic distance from an excess of stress and upset for the new kids coming to nursery, they have an acceptance period. This is the place the kid will come in to the nursery with their parent to view, meet the staff and different youngsters in the setting. The kid gets the opportunity to play with the toys and will begin to become accustomed to the setting so when its time for their parent to leave then it wonââ¬â¢t be so upsetting. At the point when a kid is in the setting a portion of the guardians come and visit the youngster during noon or on the off chance that they get a break at work. This was beneficial for certain kids as it consoled the kids that their folks were returning for them and they hadnââ¬â¢t simply left them until the end of time. For certain youngsters anyway this was not helpful and the circumstance was additionally upsetting for them saying bye to their carer once more.

Personal branding basics Selling yourself in the digital age
So call me old-fashioned, but I find the idea of having to ââ¬Å"sell yourselfâ⬠a little creepy. For centuries, civilized societies everywhere have shunned showoffsââ¬âand rightly so. At school, work, and parties, nobody likes a blowhard. But for nearly a decade now, branding and marketing gurus have bombarded us with the proposition that, in the digital age, our professional success demands self-promotion. Having waded through two-dozen books on ââ¬Å"selling yourselfâ⬠and ââ¬Å"personal brandingâ⬠so you donââ¬â¢t have to, Ive distilled all that wit and wisdom into five big ideas. 1.à Your brand must be authentic, credible, and inspire trust. In branding, as in life, honesty is almost invariably the best policy. Yes, weââ¬â¢ve all heard the line about ââ¬Å"fake it ââ¬Ëtill you make it.â⬠But the reality is: faking it is hard and the odds are youââ¬â¢ll get busted. In the digital age, itââ¬â¢s easier than ever for employers, clients, and investors to ferret out frauds. If they think youââ¬â¢re conning them, youââ¬â¢re toast. One thing we hear all the time from prospective employers is that they canââ¬â¢t stand ââ¬Å"box-tickersâ⬠ââ¬âpeople who do things not because theyââ¬â¢re genuinely interested but just to get ahead. So, be confident, be passionate, and never sell yourself short. But above all, donââ¬â¢t lie or pretend to have experiences, skills, or credentials youââ¬â¢ve never acquired. Sometimes, a little old-fashioned modesty can go a long way. In the digital age, itââ¬â¢s easier than ever for employers, clients, and investors to ferret out frauds. 2. Your brand must be consistent. This is a hard one in the online age. Weââ¬â¢re all used to having multiple personas. We might be geeky and shy with one group of friends, and wild and crazy with another. Even on social media, many of us have different personalities on different platforms. We tend to be buttoned-up and professional on LinkedIn, breezy and informal on Facebook or Instagram, and willing to really let our hair down on Snapchat. From a branding standpoint, this is a problem. As much as weââ¬â¢d all love to believe that what happens on Facebook stays on Facebook, it just ainââ¬â¢t so. The more important the job youââ¬â¢re seeking, the more probable it is that employers and recruiters will scour the web to find out who you really are. If youââ¬â¢ve made crass remarks on Twitter, or your Instagram feed reveals questionable behavior, thatââ¬â¢s not going to do your brand any favors. 3. Your brand must emphasize what it is that makes you different. Your brand should help you to stand out, presenting you as a premium product rather than a commodity. This can be tricky, especially in the early stages of your career. But in composing your resume or LinkedIn profile and talking about yourself in job interviews, it helps enormously to highlight things that make you unique from other recent grads. Do you speak multiple languages? Have you lived in many different countries? Do you have special technical skills? Is there some unusual project you led that will help an employer understand what youââ¬â¢re all about? It pays to communicate something unique about yourselfââ¬âeven if itââ¬â¢s a hobby or something not directly related to the opportunity youââ¬â¢re seekingââ¬âas long it helps people relate to you and remember who you are. Your brand should help you to stand out, presenting you as a premium product rather than a commodity. 4. Your brand must help communicate how you can add value. This is where the rubber hits the road. What can you really do for an employer? Make sure your LinkedIn profile, resume, and presentations spell it out. 5. Your brand must be focused. Whatââ¬â¢s the one thing youââ¬â¢re really good at? The one thing you really want to be known for? The one thing that unifies all your skills and experiences to date? Donââ¬â¢t try to persuade a client or employer that youââ¬â¢re a Jack-of-all-trades, equally adept at whatever happens to come up. No one wants to hire a Jack. They want to hire someone who is crazy good at one thing, whatever it is, that will really matter. Figure out that one thing and go after it. Whats the one thing you really want to be known for?à Figure out that one thing and go after it. Hult gave me opportunities to try new things and meet people from places I never thought I would have friends. . My internship experiences gave me the chance to broaden my view of different cultures and different companies. I had the opportunity to work and live with people whose values differed from people in my home country. I thought that this would be difficult, but it gave me the chance to reflect on my own values and assess if they were a result of my home country environment or if they were intrinsically mine. . It taught me a lot about how I see people, how people see me, and how conflict can be resolved in a kind and productive way. The best feedback you get, when delivered constructively, is the most critical because it really feeds into how you lead. Iââ¬â¢ve completely reversed my leadership styleââ¬âthe result is so much richer and more powerful when you lead from behind and lead with strength. . Studying in tandem with working, whilst challenging, gave me the perfect platform to directly apply learning concepts into my business environment, the competitive landscape, and the real-estate industry as a whole. When I started the program, I was very happy in my corporate role. But my courage and aspirations grew to the point that I took on a whole new direction. Having my career coach, Joanna, as a sounding board allowed me to really be strategic and get to know myself. She coached me thro ugh all the interviews, the research, and the questions. It went in parallel with what I was doing academically and after six months everything just clicked. . I went into the EMBA knowing I had nothing to lose and Iââ¬â¢ve come out with everything. Great strength, global friends, amazing learning, mentors from professors, a job I love, and the knowledge that I can set my mind to achieve anything and with the right support and resources Iââ¬â¢ll get there.â⬠. I knew that Iââ¬â¢d have likely stayed in my neighborhood for years to come if I didnââ¬â¢t take this opportunity. Iââ¬â¢d not lived or studied outside of the U.S. before. So I left my job as a global strategist at an advertising agency and moved halfway around the world. Iââ¬â¢ve come back a more culturally aware, well-versed person. Iââ¬â¢ve realized that everything is a learning experience and an opportunity for growth. Ill definitely carry this mindset with me into the future. Technology and social media allow us to be different people in several places at once. Im excited to see how I can establish myself in whatever city Ill be lucky enough to call home and still maintain deep connections with people all over the world. Iââ¬â¢m inspired by my classmates every day. Hearing some of their life stories and how getting this degree fits into their greater mission has been very humbling. My biggest challenge has been finding the ââ¬Ërightââ¬â¢ path for me. There have been rooms Ive felt like I shouldnt be in, but now Im proud to feel as though I truly belong, wherever I am.â⬠.
